I find that if I split my workouts into upper and lower, I can train harder with less rest. The first day I work my legs and do some cardio on the treadmill. The second day, I work my arms and chest . The third day I work my legs again and swim for cardio. On the fourth day I work my abs and back and ride my bike for cardio. I then rest one day and do a long ride or jog the next day and rest the next day or do light cardio. I could always turn right around after day 4 and start day 1 again. I would probably lessen the cardio so I'm not so tired.
